ANTEY-2500
AIR DEFENSE MISSILE SYSTEM
The S-300VM Antey-2500 air defense missile (ADM) system is designed to engage current and advanced tactical and strategic aircraft (including those built using stealth technology), medium-range ballistic missiles, theater and tactical missiles, aeroballistic and cruise missiles, as well as AWACS-type aircraft, reconnaissance-and-strike air systems and loitering ECM platforms.
Owing to its high performance, the Antey-2500 can be used to provide air defense capability for critical administrative, industrial and military installations, force groupings, coastal infrastructure and naval forces in the stationing points.
Engagement concept
The S-300VM Antey-2500 ADM system can operate under control of a higher command post or independently. When operating independently, DDU radars are the main sources of the air situation data.
The 9S15ME surveillance radar
All-round scanning of the air space is carried out by the 9S15ME surveillance radar.

The antenna rotation rate, as well as the size of the viewed space may vary depending on the expected composition and direction of the air attack.
The 9S457ME command post
The 9S457ME identifies the target data coming from the information sources interfaced with it and processes the information received.

Taking into account the target threat degree, the command post assigns targets for engagement by SAM systems.
The 9S19ME sector-scanning radar
For reliable detection of high-speed pinpoint targets (primarily, medium-range ballistic missiles) and space reconnaissance in a heavy jamming environment, the 9S19ME sector-scanning radar is additionally used to locate jammers. This radar can operate using target data from the 9S457ME CP or independently in a given sector.
The 9S32ME multichannel missile guidance radar
The 9S32ME multichannel missile guidance radar, using target designation data received from the command post, searches for and locks on the targets assigned to the SAM system for engagement. The coordinates of the tracked targets are transmitted to the launchers, which the commander of the SAM system has chosen for engagement. Missiles are launched vertically from transport and launch containers. During missile flight control phase, radio correction commands are transmitted to it from the launcher. When approaching the target, the radio fuze detonates the missile warhead.

Surface-to-air missiles (SAMs)
The 9M83ME SAM is designed to engage aerodynamic targets, including low-flying ones and those maneuvering at up to 12g, as well as aeroballistic and tactical ballistic missiles.

The 9M82ME (9M82MDE) SAM is designed to engage medium-range ballistic missiles, theater, tactical and aeroballistic missiles, all types of aerodynamic targets, including special aircraft (reconnaissance aircraft, air command posts, ECM aircraft) operating within 200 (350) km.
