destroy ground (surface) targets using precision guided weapons on solo and group missions in any weather, day or night, in a hostile counter-fire and electronic countermeasures environment
train pilots to fly advanced fighters and employ weapons
gain air superiority
provide cover for ground forces and infrastructure from enemy air strikes and reconnaissance
engage enemy aircraft, helicopters and cruise missiles
engage enemy military transport aircraft and disrupt airlift operations
escort tactical and military transport aircraft
breach (suppress) enemy ground air defenses
strike against enemy airfields
destroy air, force and air defense control installations
destroy enemy installations, logistics facilities and infrastructure
destroy armored and other equipment in concentration areas and during road transit
engage surface targets
interdict an operations area
long range and the possibility of its extension through in-flight refueling
supermaneuverability mode provided by a controlled thrust vector and a perfect aerodynamic layout
a wide range of precision guided weapons, 8 tons of weapons load carried on 12 hardpoints
effective penetration of enemy air defenses using electronic warfare assets and destroying air defenses with anti-radar missiles
radar and electro-optical target sight (surveillance and targeting) systems that provide engagement of air and ground (surface) targets in any weather, day or night
open architecture of the avionics suite using a multiplex data exchange link
The Su-30SME is powered by two AL-31FP thrust-vectoring afterburning turbofan engines.
1
1 280
At an altitude of 200 m, km
2
3 000
At a cruising altitude without refueling, km One refueling extends range to 5600 km
3
1 320
Max level speed near ground, km/h
4
1.75
Max Mach number at an altitude over 11000 m
1
16.1
Service ceiling, km
2
12 500
Full afterburner thrust, kgf
Crew
The Su-30SME carries a two-man crew.
The diversity of missions performed is ensured by:
1
Two cockpits with equal flight control capabilities
2
Optimal allocation of flying and weapon employment duties between the crew members
3
Availability of an in-flight refueling system
4
Extended range and endurance
5
Rational crew workload
6
Increased flight safety in limit flight conditions owing to double control
7
Opportunities to use the aircraft as a combat trainer
Armament
The Su-30SME supermaneuverable multirole fighter with 12 hardpoints is capable of carrying up to 8 tons of guided and unguided weapons.
Guided aircraft weapons:
Unguided aircraft weapons:
50-500 kg air bombs. S-8KOM, S-13T (with HE warhead) unguided aircraft rockets.
The aircraft is fitted with a built-in GSh-30-1 cannon with 150 rounds.
Onboard systems
The Su-30SME is equipped with a digital multi-mode phased array radar with an additional mechanical turn of its antenna, which provides the simultaneous tracking of 15 and engagement of 4 targets and a capability to simultaneously engage air and ground targets in a dense electronic countermeasures environment.
An integrated approach to ensuring aircraft survivability in the air has been implemented in the Su-30SME and includes:
Radar emission detection and jamming equipment
EW equipment for detecting and jamming enemy airborne radars, homing missile seekers and air defense radars
Guided anti-radar missiles
Use of air-to-radar missiles to destroy enemy emitters and air defense systems
Passive jamming system
Use of built-in chaff/flare dispensers
