DIESEL-ELECTRIC SUBMARINE
Project 636 is an improved version of the well-known Kilo class of submarines.
The project was built drawing a wealth of experience and the best traditions of Russian submarine shipbuilding and was nicknamed the "black hole" by foreign navies for its advanced stealth capabilities.
The submarine has proven to be a reliable combat unit surpassing its third-generation foreign counterparts in terms of low noise characteristics, firepower, basic load and reserve buoyancy.
